New York City marathon race strategy

-Miles 1 to 3: And if I can conquer this stretch, I can conquer anything. New York, you hold the key to my success! The excitement is palpable as I prepare to run across the iconic Verrazano Bridge. Remember, it’s a slow climb up and a speedy descent back down. Stay focused and don’t deviate from your plan once you reach Bay Ridge.

New York City (NYC) marathon race strategy

-Miles 3 to 6: Enjoy the smooth and relatively flat 4th Ave, my fellow Brooklynites. This is a crucial moment for us. Resist the urge to show off and just keep going strong!

-Miles 6 to 9: From 4th Ave to Lafayette to Bedford Ave, the scenery changes and the road narrows. Embrace the twists and turns, and take in the delightful aromas of brunch. There’s a slight incline, but the energy from the spectators will keep you going.

-Miles 9 to 12: Welcome to Greenpoint Brooklyn, where the terrain gets rough but rewards you with a friendly downhill towards the Pulaski Bridge. Stay determined and find your way to Queens.

-Mile 13: As you reach the last hydration station in Brooklyn, the Shore Road Striders will be there to support you. Maybe they’ll even hand you a well-deserved beer! This is where things start to get real, and it’s time to kick it into high gear.

-Miles 14, 15, and 16: The journey to the 59th street Bridge begins. This part of the race is known for its tranquility, regardless of your position in the pack. The incline is steep, and the bridge seems never-ending. As you reach miles 15 and 16 on the bridge, you can almost feel your legs protesting, especially in contrast to the eerie silence.

-Miles 17 to 19: It’s Beatlemania time! Despite feeling tired and achy, the crowd lining the sidewalks behind the barriers will lift your spirits. News reporters, music, and cheers galore! Look ahead, and it’s as if you’re crowd surfing at a Pearl Jam concert. But remember, stay consistent and keep pushing forward. There’s still a long way to go.

-Miles 20 and 21: Welcome to the Bronx! These miles are short and filled with twists and turns, including two bridges. Keep pushing forward, and you’ll soon be rewarded.

After completing this challenging task, get ready for an extensive and arduous stroll! YOU DID IT!! Embrace someone… anyone. Strike a pose while capturing that victorious moment! Display that medal proudly. You have endured a lengthy and difficult journey and invested your time, and you deserve to experience every emotion that ensues. Congratulations on your dedication and effort. Great job!!
Now.. go celebrate, indulge in a hearty meal, enjoy a few drinks, and inform your boss that you will be taking Monday off!
